The Ogdoad caused the primeval mound or Isle of Flame to emerge, where the cosmic egg created by the Ogdoad was laid, and from which the Sun God emerged.

There are several version of the emergence of the Sun God depending on which city you are in. Each one had their own creation story which featured their God. However over time many creator Gods were merged as were many of the Gods and Goddesses, and this gave rise to confusion in modern times for the archaeologists and translators.
The first version states a cosmic egg was laid by a celestial goose on the primeval mound. The egg contained the bird of light, Re who then created the world.
Or the egg was laid by an ibis, which is considered to be the bird of Thoth.
The cult of Thoth was newer than the Ogdoad and possibly this version was created by the priests of Thoth to merge the mythologies of the Eight and of Thoth. The Ogdoad was sometimes called the souls of Thoth.
The third story states that a lotus flower emerged from the waters of the lake "the Sea of the Two Knives". The lake is located in a park near the temple in Hermopolis. When the lotus’ petals opened, a divine child Re was revealed.
The last story is the same as the previous except the lotus opened to reveal a scarab beetle the Khepri, symbol of the rising sun. The scarab transformed into a crying boy whose tears became mankind. The lotus was sometimes identified as the Eye of Re.
This was the beginning of time and Re was then thought to have created the universe and brought his children into being.
Khepri. A scarab beetle that rolled up the sun in the morning, and was sometimes seen as the morning manifestation of Ra.
