Mentor Responsibilities

All new Mentors take on new responsibilities as part of their duty to Witch School in order to help students achieve their maximum potential and be successful in their studies.

Both Degree and General Mentors may establish OPTIONAL Study Groups for the classes they are mentoring for. Optional means optional not only to the Mentor but also optional for the student.  Students cannot be required to participate in Study Groups.

IF a WSI student also joins your Shrine or Temple and you have a separate study group for that organization they can join both. HOWEVER, joining EITHER study group is OPTIONAL for all WSI students. All communications about ANY study group that goes to a WSI student MUST have the OPTIONAL disclaimer in it.

Set clear expectations with your students. Student cannot meet Correllian-Nativist Church requirements if they do not know what the requirements are. Post a list of the requirements for each Degree in your Study Group or send it to your students in an e-mail.    .

In order to level the playing field so that all students complete the same amount of work, extra assignments cannot be required. If the student is having a great deal of difficulty in an area, the Mentor can recommend an optional assignment or optional material to read but it must be made clear to the student that this is optional and will not in any way affect the student’s grade if they chose not to do it.

You must sign onto WSI to ensure you have a complete list of all recent student assignments by checking your messages there. Upon notification of a new student, make contact within 72 hours. Send them a welcome letter in which you introduce yourself and provide information on how they can communicate with you and join your Study Group, if you have one. Attach a copy of the requirements for the Degree they are taking and a basic information questionnaire for them to fill out and return to you.

If you are a General Mentor, contact your student with a welcome letter. Let them know you are available to answer any question they may have. Invite them to the study group for that course, if you have one.

Basic Guidelines

• If in doubt about anything, contact one of the Deans of Mentoring at mentorsupport@witchschool.com  Do not panic or ignore something if you are not sure how to resolve the issue or don’t understand the concern.

• Keep the Deans of Mentoring informed of anything unusual or of anything you are not sure of.

• Ensure that all students, as well as the Deans of Mentoring, are aware of any change in your contact information. If your email address changes, WITCHSCHOOL’s policies require that you update it on your WITCHSCHOOL profile as well.

• Communicate with your students to find out if there is a need for special considerations or assistance in the educational material.

• Do not sign your posts with non CEM related advertisements under it.

• If you need a leave of absence or decide to permanently leave the Mentoring program, please alert the Deans of Mentoring as soon as possible at MentorSupport@Witchschool.com. Do not stop communicating or drop students; that isn’t in the best interest of any of the involved parties. It is perfectly acceptable to take a leave of absence, but all Mentoring information must be transferred to WITCH SCHOOL staff prior to your leave.

·         After being accepted as a Mentor, complete the Mentor Checklist First Steps.
