The “Ring Finger”
The “ring finger” is ruled by Apollo and the Sun. Where Mercury will tell you about your fortune, Apollo relates to matters of the heart, talent, creativity, and self-expression.
On average and ideally, the Apollo finger should be roughly equal in length to the pointer finger (unless of course the pointer is also long or short) and the tip should come up to right about the middle of the nail of the middle finger of the hand. The length of the ring finger directly relates to the artistic creativity of an individual… the longer the Apollo, the more artistic and creative that person has the capacity to be. A person with a long Apollo finger is likely to be found in the performing arts or have a career in an area like graphic design, architecture, or interior decorating. They want to make things look good and want others to take notice when something they had a hand in looks GREAT! A person with a shorter Apollo finger is less likely to be concerned with making things look their best. Beauty and creativity isn’t their forte and although they can be schooled in the finer aspects of life, it is not likely that they will ever develop a burning desire for the arts.
There are no set indications for the middle fingers of the hand, as their set is based on the set of the fingers to either side; consequently it is more important in these middle fingers to consider the fleshiness of the finger instead. The fleshiness of the Apollo relates to how disciplined and detail-oriented a person is in their appreciation of art. An Apollo that is almost “fat” in appearance shows a lack of discipline in the area where that person’s talent lies and a dissipation of their interests which creates a lack of focus. An Apollo that is neither “fat” nor “thin” in appearance indicates a person who is very particular and focused in their personal tastes of art and creative expression. They have little use or patience for other forms of creative expression that don’t fit into their personal ideal of what is acceptable. An Apollo that is “thin” or downright “bony” in appearance is usually seen on someone who is a perfectionist in their chosen form of artistic expression. They are meticulous and expect others in the same artistic field to be so as well; they believe that a job worth doing is worth doing perfectly.
Like the Mercury finger, the leaning of Apollo is also significant in the determination of the eccentricity, in the way a person expresses him/herself in a creative fashion. An Apollo leaning toward the middle finger would indicate that a person’s creative tastes and expressions tend towards the politically and socially acceptable standard of the time. An Apollo that leans toward the Mercury finger shows that the person is more of an eclectic collector in the field of art and is more interested in the financial aspects relating to art. The straight Apollo is much harder to define and often requires reference to other areas of the hand to determine the tastes and styles preferred by its owner.
Now, on to the sections of the Apollo finger. We will start again with the first section, at the base of the finger near the palm, as you remember, in the material realm. This section is ideally the longest of the three sections and relates to how we personally see art in the material realm. Is it something to collect and have or is it something that we need to create to fully appreciate? As always, balance in comparison to the rest of the finger is considered average here. In people where this section of the finger is exceptionally long, you will find someone who enjoys the finer things in life. They will most likely not be happy or content living in small quarters, and will most likely not be satisfied with a trip to McDonald’s for “dinner out”. A balanced and average first section shows that the person is balanced in their tastes of creative expression as well. They are not obsessed with their creative interests, but have very specific interests that they enjoy. A small first section is not necessarily the sign that a person has no creative expression or opinion, but it could be that their creative interests are small in stature. Here you will find people who collect small things such as: spoons, thimbles, baseball cards, matchbooks, and any number of other small objects.
The middle section of the Apollo finger should be slightly shorter than the first sections and reflects how we approach the creative process from a mental and intellectual standpoint. Someone who possesses a long middle section of Apollo loves the details; they submerse themselves in the details of their subject of interest to the point of obsession. Someone who has an average middle section of the Apollo, has their own tastes and is not overly influenced by what is popular; they are not concerned with the details to the point of obsession, but rather have a healthy interest in their subject of interest. Someone who has a short middle section of Apollo will generally find themselves passionate about a particular type of artistic expression, to the exclusion of all other artistic form around them. This is not like the long sectioned Apollo that was discussed earlier, but more like someone who likes Country music, regardless of how well it is written, who wrote it, or performed it. They like it because it is what it is.
Now, for the third section of the Apollo finger and how sensitive you are to creativity. Average for this section is just a bit shorter than the middle section and ideally is the shortest section of the three. A long section on this part of the Apollo is someone who is more likely to be moved to tears by something beautiful or sentimental in some way. It is likely that they will cry when the national anthem is played, when the heroine dies at the end of a romantic movie, or at the overwhelming beauty of a sunset. They are also the ones who have a tendency to be the most creative. The average third section of Apollo, is average in his/her appreciation of art, he/she is neither completely apathetic nor passionate about it. The short third section of the Apollo has an appreciation for things that are more technical in nature, or rather outside of nature, if you will. Art in the form of science and precision are the focus for this one. They will most likely not be concerned with the beauty of art but are well aware of the monetary value of what they are looking at.
Let’s not forget the tip of our artistic friend, Apollo. The square-tipped Apollo person knows the importance of balance between practicality and art. They are the go-to people who are more sensible in their artistic tastes. The square-tipped Apollo would not be a surprise on an architect or engineer. Their earth bound tip makes them people of action, not someone who lets art just pass them by.
The spatula-tipped Apollo is a quick study in things artistic in nature. They are more likely to show you how or why something works, rather than to try to explain it in words. They are the natural musicians, but how they use their natural talent isn’t always to the best of their abilities.
The conic-tipped Apollo is more technical in approach to artistic expression. You are likely looking at a perfectionist of the artistic venue. They are the “behind the scenes” guy who makes everything go off without a hitch. They are naturally good at everything they attempt, but it doesn’t seem to satisfy their desire for absolute perfection in all things. This is true, even more so the more conical the tip appears. A person with an extreme conical tip on Apollo will benefit greatly from direction and guidance from an outside source to help them to stay focused on the task and hand and gets the job done.
The “Middle Finger”
The “middle finger” is the lawmaker of the hand. It is ruled by Saturn and reflects how you deal with authority, how you deal with male parental figures, how practical you are, and your attitudes toward discipline.
The Saturn finger is generally and ideally the longest finger on your hand. Its length relates directly to how long, or how much, the rules influence you or how short, or little, you are influenced by the rules. A person with a long Saturn finger will likely be very concerned with the finer aspects of the law. They will generally come across as very serious and practical types. A person with an average Saturn finger usually indicates someone who has a healthy respect for the law, but is not overly concerned with its details. They are balanced in all the practical areas of their lives and generally have a good relationship with the dominating parental figure in their lives. The short Saturn is the rebel. They don’t generally have any sort of respect for the law and will acquire assets in any way they deem to be convenient at the time. If that means stealing, so be it (Another example of one of those times it would be wise to use tact in a reading).
An interesting feature of the Saturn finger comes to light if you should notice that it appears to stand out or apart from the other fingers of the hand. This extra spacing between the Saturn finger and the other fingers is generally an indication that the person likes to have a place where they can be alone. A private place where they can do whatever they choose. This is also someone would not be considered a team player and who prefers to work alone. Give them a task and let them alone; rest assured it will get done, and probably better than you could ever have expected.
Which way the Saturn leans is also an indicator of how we feel about the laws and rules governing us. And, as usual, the lean towards the outer part of the hand is in the way of the eccentric and the lean towards the pointer finger is in the way of the socially acceptable. Someone whose Saturn leans towards Apollo will likely be the one on the sidelines cheering for the underdog. They are less concerned with what society sees as acceptable, and more concerned with the injustice for which the underdog fights. Someone whose Saturn leans towards the pointer finger, is more concerned with personal discipline. They are more concerned with their own behavior and their own goals than they are with what others are doing. The straight Saturn, as you may have guessed, is the straight shooter. They have a respect and understanding of the law and are willing to abide by its boundaries without question. They are the model citizens and don’t want to create any waves.
The first section of Saturn, at the base of the finger nearest to the palm, relates to the material realm. It should be the longest of the three sections of Saturn, but not noticeably so. A person with a significantly long first section of Saturn is highly concerned with self-discipline and outward appearances. And they are more likely to expect and demand the same of the people with whom they associate. They will also be more likely not to insinuate their opinion of the inadequacy in a verbal or obvious way, but those around them will understand that whatever it is, they are doing something unacceptable in the eyes of that person. The average, ideal, first section of Saturn, is, you guessed it, balance. Thankfully, this is the most common configuration you will see in this finger. The average Saturn is a useful part of society. They can exert self-discipline in their own lives without taking it to the extreme or demanding that others conform to their standards. They do not take themselves or their occasional shortcomings too seriously and are not overly critical of those with whom they associate. The short Saturn lacks foundations in the material world. They do not conform or care to conform to the norm of society. They are not concerned with find and holding down a specific job and are generally the type that lets life happen to them. They are not very concerned with self-discipline and most would consider them to be free spirits due to their lack on interest in material possessions.
The middle section of Saturn relates to the way your mind perceives authority. Ideally, it will be just a little bit shorter than the first section of Saturn, and a little bit longer than the third section of Saturn. A person with a long second section of Saturn will generally be involved, or at least interested in history on some level. They are also likely to headstrong when it comes to areas of determining right and wrong. They enjoy games and past-times that involve strategy and detail. The average middle section of Saturn can be one of the most difficult to read and define. They possess the desire to know and learn things, but are not obsessed with the desire to know about a subject in its entirety and in all its minute detail. A short middle section of Saturn indicates that the person is capable of solving complex and detailed problems, but is not willing to make the effort to slow down and find the solutions for themselves. They are more likely to call a friend who will explain to them what they need to know, than to research the solution without the advice of others.
The third and top section of Saturn deals more with how we perceive the rules, in their application to us personally. Ideally, it will measure in just a bit shorter than the second section of Saturn. A long third section of Saturn strives to live within the confines of acceptable societal law. They have an appreciation for the finer qualities of the laws of society and will likely suffer in silence should their personal views differ for societal norms. The average third section of Saturn does not challenge authority, nor do they blindly follow every dictate set forth by society. Again, we are looking at balance in the average. The short section of Saturn lacks appreciation for societal norms. They question and challenge authority on every level. They are the rebel who marches in protest and the philosopher who readily and, usually loudly, tells the rest of society why they should not be subject to societal law.
With the third section of Saturn is the tip of the finger. The square-tipped Saturn is the most common tip observed on this particular finger, as the nature of Saturn is in the practical and sensibly lawful. The square-tipped Saturn is the peace- maker who has strength in their convictions and is willing to work for the things he believes in.
The spatula-tipped Saturn is more concerned with the details and technicalities of the law. They possess the patience and dogged-determination that most others lack, to bring to light the truth and justice that is contained in the law. They make good managers and will make wise choices in their decisions to place people in positions that will make the most of their talents and abilities.
The conic-tipped Saturn is the second most common tips you will encounter on Saturn. They are versatile, competent, efficient, and willing to learn. If there was ever a balance to the tendencies of law abiding Saturn the conic-tip would be it. It moderates the strengths of Saturn without diminishing them and keeps it from becoming obsessive about the details. The extreme conic-tipped Saturn, almost to the extent of being pointed is his/her own worst enemy. Their inability to adapt to reality and societal law will more than likely eventually cause their downfall (remember tact!).
